penedones, montalegre

Sometimes, while we're craving for new worlds, we forget that our country has much to explore and that probably there's always a little corner that we don't know.

My parents always took us around all of Portugal and I kept this habit in my adult life. I have done all the coasts, climbed many of our mountains and visited many cities, towns and villages and sometimes I fall into the error of thinking that I already  know very well this country where I live.

And then - almost by chance - I arrive to such a beautiful place and I realize that there is still much to discover.

Penedones is in Montalegre (very close to the Peneda Geres National Park), on the banks of the river (dam ...) Rabagão. When looking for a place to spend a few days in the beginning of the New Year, I recalled this serene and - even in winter - charming place, where we were in the end of 2013.
